As they say, breaking up is hard to do. Only sometimes it shouldn't be.
Unfortunately, too many guys stay in so-so relationships for all the wrong reasons. Ponder these for a moment and be honest with yourself - has this ever crossed your mind?
1. I like getting laid, so I'll put up with all of her drama/controlling behavior/double-standards/etc. It's like a price to be paid for regular sex.
2. I'm afraid that if I get rid of this one, there won't be another for a very long time.
3. What will everyone else think?
4. How will I find someone else? I'm too lazy to put up with that shit.
Put very plainly, all of the above are bullshit excuses.
Life is too short and you're not getting any younger. The bottom line is that you were successful in getting into this relationship and you WILL be successful in getting into others. If you don't want a relationship, you WILL be successful in finding some new action. It's just a matter of time and effort. If you fall into the category of 4. above - well, the lazy get nothing. You're not entitled to anything. If you want it, go get it. As a finance professor once told me, "bulls make money, bears make money, pigs make shit."
The above is for those on the fence. For those who KNOW you're in a shitty relationship, get out! What are you waiting for? Will it be hard? Yes. Could it be expensive? Hell yes. But, will the VALUE be there? Most definitely. A while ago, a colleague with kids went through a divorce that cost him millions of dollars. He'll be the first to tell you it was worth every dollar. He no longer puts up with daily nagging and has gotten more ass than a toilet seat in the past couple of years. It's what he wanted all along and now he's happy. It's simple.
Change is always difficult. People are averse to it for good reason. However, moving forward is what life is about. Go out there and grab it!
